Miss Universe WA Top 24 Finalist Sophie Kerrigan held a Luncheon for Littlies event at the Crowne Plaza to raise money for ToyBox International. Here she tells us a bit about how her event went:
“ToyBox is such a wonderful charity, to be able to help a child in need is such an amazing act and after entering the Miss Universe WA competition I became more familiar with the incredible ways they help sick and disadvantaged children. I really wanted to help in some way and as I teach modelling, I thought I could use what I do every day to put together a fundraising fashion parade – and the proceeds go to kids, why not make it a kids fashion parade? With WA quickly becoming an epicentre of fashion, who says that the littlies should miss out on all the fun? This is where the Luncheon for Littlies began.
“When I ran this idea by some of the children I teach at Chadwick Models they were so excited to help and be a part of the show.
“I contacted the Crowne Plaza Hotel about holding the fashion parade at their restaurant, Gusti, and making it a luncheon as well and they could not be more accommodating. They put together a delicious three course menu and generously gave me the entire restaurant for the luncheon, a hotel room for the kids’ change room and a wonderful prize for the day of a nights stay at the hotel. Crowne was the perfect venue for the luncheon with scenic views of the foreshore, delicious food and attentive staff.
“I then got Agoo and My Wild Child kids clothing ranges on board for the day to model their cute clothes on Chadwicks’ little upcoming stars. Agoo also sold a range of kid safe water bottles and accessories with part proceeds going to ToyBox, as well as donating products to the raffle.
“I spoke with Juanita French from Arborne cosmetics and she was so happy to help with the fundraiser and gave beautiful samples of cosmetics and skincare in the gift bags each guest received as they arrived on the day. Arbonne also had a display of make-up and skincare with makeup artists there to colour consult cosmetics for the guests. Arbonne kindly donated a large percentage of all sales on the day to ToyBox and donated three gift boxes full of products to the raffle.
“The Luncheon for Littles was held on Sunday March 13 and was a huge success with tickets selling out, smiles on all faces including the little models and the guests, and a good deal of money raised for ToyBox on the day by very generous guests and sponsors. There were models in the show as little as size 0, all the way to size 14 and they all did a fabulous job on the day. I really enjoyed seeing the Lunchon for Littlies come together and it was great to be able to help ToyBox in some way.”
