Our 2012 toybox ambassadors visit PMH

Perth girl Renae was crowned Miss Universe Australia 2012 after winning the pageant on June 8. Before she heads off to compete internationally in December, and with mammoth preparations, endless events and interviews in her schedule, Renae still managed to make time for a visit to the kids at Princess Margaret Hospital just a few short weeks after being crowned, proving just how committed she is in her role as ToyBox International Ambassador.

Good luck Renae with the international competition, so proud of what you’ve achieved so far and can’t wait to start working with you on some amazing ToyBox projects!

Sophia Flynn

Sophia was announced as ToyBox WA Ambassador at the Miss Universe WA Final Beauty and the Beat, for her amazing efforts fundraising and volunteering for ToyBox International throughout the program.

What did you do to raise the most funds for ToyBox during the Miss Universe competition?

During the Miss Universe competition, I organised an outdoor movie night for over 150 people. Through sponsorship, ticket sales and raffle tickets sold on the night, the event raised over $2300 which was great for ToyBox and very rewarding.

What have you learnt from your involvement with ToyBox?

My involvement has taught me that even the smallest thing can make a big difference in a child’s life, like visiting them in hospital or delivering gifts. It has also made me grateful for my own health especially as a child, something that I think many of us take for granted.

What makes you laugh?

A lot of things…. but particularly Will Ferrell.

What do you hope to bring to ToyBox?

Aside from more fundraising, I’d like to increase awareness and encourage others to get involved so they too can experience the feeling of making a difference in a child’s life.
