Miss Universe WA 2011 Finalist Alana Wilkie held a Bikini Beach Volleyball Bonanza to raise funds for ToyBox International. Take a look at the photos and hear what Alana has to say about her amazing event!
“I was looking for ideas to host an event that embodied the spirit of some of the key themes that Miss Universe promotes. When I combined social, fun and fitness aspects with our beautiful WA girls, bikinis and a dose of healthy competition, the Bikini Beach Volleyball Bonanza was born.
“Over 100 people played on the day in a knockout competition for some amazing prizes and one ultimate winner! A great day was had by enthusiastic players and spectators alike, with food and drinks complemented by the awesome sounds of DJ Jus Haus. Of course none of it could have happened without the help of the other beautiful finalists and the incredible generosity of our sponsors – very
special thanks to Sandsports Australia, XXXX Summer Bright Lager, Dorper Lamb, Schweppes, Coca-Cola Amatil, Kooey Swimwear, Lorna Jane, Invisible Zinc, Catalano Seafood, Brumby’s Nedlands, The Boatshed, The Shed and 3G Corporate.”
As if that wasn’t generous enough, Alana also held a Miss Universe WA Sausage Sizzle to raise even more funds for ToyBox!
“The Bunnings Sausage Sizzle is a great initiative by Bunnings to help community groups and charities raise funds. I thought this would be a fun way to raise money for ToyBox whilst also telling people all about the Miss Universe WA competition and the work the girls do for ToyBox. Having a group of Miss Universe finalists cooking up a sausage sizzle three days after Christmas definitely caught the eye of a lot of passers by, and even in 38 degree heat we sold over 500 sausages, 300 drinks and collected plenty of generous donations. Special thanks to Dorper Lamb, Schweppes, Brumby’s Mount Lawley and our masterchef’s Caitlin and Ellen!”
